I have the PS3 Consoles Slim received yesterday from Amazon. I already have a 40 GB version. Unpacked, and even looks quite nice, even without klavierlack. Turned on .. joa, no difference to the old. Will it be a little more strained) (DVDs, games, then it can definitely something to be louder! That is the DVD already look very disturbing. I think it’s the smaller case that because the air can circulate so well. I have returned the SLIM again, because (the old, despite slightly higher power consumption in my opinion), is quieter. Of course, the Slim is even smaller, but it does not fall into the large weight. It does not matter if now is a little larger or something smaller device aufm table. Which means you have to buy either a Component cable (5 pins) or an HDMI cable yourself in order to get an HD signal. Mo’ money. * The PS3 Consoles is touted as a wonderful blu-ray player and should be the consumers’ choice for getting the best that a BD can offer. That might be the case but it would help if there was a remote control included. Mo’ money. * The PS3 Consoles tries to be a bit of a green machine and it’s controller is rechargable. But the USB/USB-mini cable that connects the wireless, rechargable controller to the system is about 4.5 feet long. How many people sit 4.5 feet from their TV?! Not many, I’ll tell you. That means you’ll need to go out and buy yet another (longer) replacement cable in order to play games while the controller is recharging. Mo’ money. * The PS3 Consoles software library is so-so as most people are aware of. The PS3 game prices aren’t so-so. They are so-expensive. Most people thought PC games were expensive in comparison to game system software but the PS3 Consoles broke down that barrier. Most new titles are $10-20 more expensive on the PS3 as compared to the same title for a PC. Mo’ money. * The PS3 Consoles (like all current game systems) tout multiplayer and yet they provide you with one controller which isn’t family friendly. Mo’ money * And 2 USB ports really aren’t enough but mo’ money won’t solve that problem unless a USB hub is workable (and I haven’t tried that). So in conclusion, buy your PS3 Consoles slim and make sure you put aside mo’ money.
I am an owner of a Wii, one XBOX 360, one XBOX 360 Elite and now the PS3 Consoles. As a machine the PS3 Consoles is a very capable machine. I play it on a Panasonic 50″ Plasma and it’s also connected to an Onkyo 7.1 with Polk Speakers. The PS3 Consoles graphics & sound are on par with the 360 and much better than the Wii. My console never heats up and I have left it on for over 40 hours and it is super quiet. I don’t even hear it. On the other hand the 360 heats up and it is LOUD! I play games a lot at least 3 hours a day and on weekends even more. If I were to play the PS3 Consoles then the 360 it will take me a while to get use to how loud the 360 is. As a console the PS3 Consoles is nearly perfect, but it has it’s drawbacks. I find the operating system of the 360 to be more user friendly than the PS3 Consoles or the Wii. I would have preferred that the remote would have batteries like the 360, so I wouldn’t be limited to the USB charging cord. I did solve this problem by buying another controller and a charger, thus my controllers would always be charged. The other problem is the lack of good games. The 360 seems to have all the good games(there is a reason I have 2 360). After having the PS3 Consoles I only have Metal Gear Solid 4 and I couldn’t really find any good games worth buying. Actually, I bought the PS3 Consoles just for that game. While on the 360 I have already pre-ordered Gears of War 2, Fable 2 & End of War which happens to be exclusibly for the XBOX. While the Square Enix(Final Fantasy RPG Series) will be going to XBOX now. The Wii is a nice system to play as a family, but it’s not for the hardcore gamer. It is something that I play once in a while when I have friends over, but I can’t play those games for more than 2 hours, but on the other 2 consoles I can play forever. The Wii doesn’t have a hardrive neither(it has 512MB of memory). It may be cheaper, but to take advantadge of it you need to get 4 controllers including the one that comes with it. That cost me an extra $180, so it is not really that cheap. The pointer on the Wii is not accurate at all which a find very annoying. The PS3 Consoles is a very good and capable console that may last a while without any problems. I never had a crash and it is VERY QUIET, but it lacks good games. It has very good graphics as long as your TV is able to produce them and it has great sound as long as they are connected to a decent system. I sometimes feel that the sound is a little better than the 360. It has a 80GB HD for memory. The 360 is loud and heats up and they tend to break more often. I had to send one of my 360 for repairs after 1 year of extensive use, but it makes up with a very large selection of games that are fun to play. It has either a 20GB, 60GB or 120GB HD for memory. I have the 20GB & the 120GB one. As a console I give the PS3 Consoles 5 stars, but if I were rating the selection of games I would only give it 2.5 stars. If I could only choose a console, I would choose the 360 because it has more game selection.
I have been gaming since the original atari came out and have owned almost every console out since nes,64,ps1 and the ps2. I never owned the xbox since the ps2 was so good (my personal experience). I took the plunge and tried the 360 when it came out since the PS3 Consoles was being delayed. Well I recently purchased a ps3 and was unfortunately disappointed that I ended up returning it. My first issue being that I was a early adopter of the HDTV movement since I have had my HDTV for about 6 years now.
But the problem lies with the fact that back then hdmi was a pipe dream. Well up to this point every hdtv product I have purchased would output at 1080i over component except for the PS3 Consoles. If I play a game that is 720p which is not compatible with my tv it down resolutions the picture quality to 480p which is what my ps2 already outputs. Now my 360 does the opposite it upconverts the 720p games to 1080i which is compatible with my tv. I loved the look of the PS3 Consoles unit its self and the fact that it plays bluerays but it again down rez’s the picture to 480p because it’s over component.
This seems to get over looked in alot of reviews and since it is a big neagative for me there may be others that need to know this information as well. I hear people say, oh buy a new tv and I personally think it not a smart investment to replace a 64 inch tv that has a great picture, still better than most the new sets for a gaming console. I have to admit that I am more of a 360 lover at this point which is sad because I loved my ps2 so much. I have to admit that after using the 360 GUI agianst the PS3 Consoles GUI, I prefer the 360.
I don’t like that xbox live is not free like the PS3 Consoles online but I don’t do alot of online gaming anyway so I wait to find the xbox live 13 month cards for $29. Maybe someday sony will make this work better or my tv will die and I will have a good reason to replace it, I might try the PS3 Consoles again but right now for my situation it is not the best console and if u don’t have a hdmi connection u may have the same issues.
